Explore Small-Scale Organic Grain Farming Equipment & Renewable Energy Solutions
with Living Energy Farm, Common Grain Alliance &
Virginia Association of Biological Farming
Living Energy Farm (LEF), Common Grain Alliance, and Virginia Association of Biological Farming are co-hosting a field day focused on small-scale organic grain harvesting and sustainable energy solutions.
LEF, a certified organic farm and off-grid community committed to renewable energy and sustainable agriculture, is developing a simplified combine prototype designed for harvesting well-suited small acreages. See HERE for an overview of this simplified combine prototype and videos (here and here) showing how it works. Read more about Living Energy Farm at livingenergyfarm.org and livingenergylights.com.
Attendees will have the opportunity to watch a live demonstration of this prototype, see LEF’s grain cleaning and milling setup, and discuss small- scale grain equipment solutions with fellow farmers and millers. The event will also feature a tour of LEF’s energy facilities, highlighting their innovative approach to making renewable energy accessible and affordable.
This event, scheduled for June 21 (with June 28 as a rain date), runs from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. In addition to equipment demonstrations, discussions will cover small-scale organic grain farming practices, providing valuable insights for farmers transitioning to organic production. LEF’s collaborations, including work with Twin Oaks and Commonwealth Seeds, will also be highlighted.
This field day is hosted with sponsorship from the Transition to Organic Partnership Program in partnership with the Virginia Association of Biological Farming.
