Explore the meaning of local beer and learn about the Mid-Atlantic regional grain movement with Slow Food DC and the Common Grain Alliance! Hosted at Wheatland Spring Farm + Brewery in Waterford, VA, this event invites you to delve into the unique concept of Land Beer, with ingredients regeneratively grown on the land next to the brewery. Participants will be given a guided tour of the barley field, brewery, and learn about the unique approach Wheatland Spring takes that marries agriculture and brewing. Guests will be offered three Wheatland Spring Estate beer samples during the tour and a full pour of beer during the panel discussion.

A short panel discussion moderated by Slow Food DC will highlight the engagement of the Common Grain Alliance and Wheatland Spring in building a regional network of grain growers, processors, and artisans. The conversation will explore how people are working together to not only rebuild the regional food system for local grains, but also make it resilient for generations to come.

Afterward, guests are invited to enjoy Wheatland Spring’s farm with the opportunity to purchase additional beverages and food offerings. Tickets are $35/person and include a private tour, a 3-beer tasting, and a full pour of beer, with a portion of proceeds supporting Slow Food DC and CGA's initiatives. A variety of non-alcoholic and gluten-free beverage options will be available for those who want to participate.
