Grain Cleaning Workshop & Grain to Glass Networking Event

Richmond, Virginia | Tuesday, February 20th, 2024


This event will be a unique opportunity to meet with farmers, grain buyers, distillers, maltsters, and other grain industry professionals to deepen your understanding of grain processing, storage, and the symbiotic relationship between farmers and the craft beverage industry. 

Space is limited and advanced registration is required - see below for details and to register.

Attendees can choose to register for the grain cleaning workshop and/or the grain to glass panel discussion and networking session. Attendance for the full day of events is not required.

SCHEDULE

  • 9:30 am - Welcome and Sign In - Coffee and Breakfast Pastries from Sub Rosa.

    • Location: Greater Richmond Grains (1687 Capeway Rd, Powhatan, VA, 23139)

  • 10:00 am -  12:00 pm - Grain Cleaning Workshop

    • Attendees will tour a grain cleaning equipment operation, participate in a live demonstration, and discuss best practices in grain cleaning and storage. 

    • Location: Greater Richmond Grains (1687 Capeway Rd, Powhatan, VA, 23139)

  • 12:45 pm - Lunch

    • Drive to Reservoir Distillery in your personal vehicle.

      • Note that it is about a 30 minute drive from Greater Richmond Grains to Reservoir Distillery.

    • Enjoy an optional lunch in the Reservoir Tasting Room (or bring your own meal). 

  • 2:00 pm - Panel Discussion: From Grain to Glass 

    • Experienced distillers, maltsters, and collaborating farmers will discuss the connections between grain selection, farming conditions, and the resulting flavors in the end beverage product. 

    • Location: Reservoir Distillery (1800A Summit Ave, Richmond, VA 23230)

    • Moderator: Shelley Sackier, Director of Distillery Education, Reservoir Distillery

  • 3:15 pm  - Farmer and Distiller Industry Networking Session

    • Cap off the day with a networking session to build new connections between grain producers and users. The Reservoir Tasting room will be open for drink sales.

    • Location: Reservoir Distillery (1800A Summit Ave, Richmond, VA 23230)

  • 4:30pm - Adjourn
